13.11.2024 | 19:30 |Today, the results of the "Book Marathon" competition were announced at the main building of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The event was organized by the Council of Young Scientists of the university for students and graduate students of educational institutions.
The competition, aimed at fostering a love of reading among youth, enhancing thinking skills, creative abilities, and enriching vocabulary, was announced at the beginning of October. In the preliminary round, held on October 13-14 through testing, 146 participants qualified to take part in the competition.
As part of the "Book Marathon", digital tools were utilized, including the Google Classroom platform, where participants were offered the first chapter of the book “The Emir's Ambassador” by Turkmen diplomat and writer Gylych Kuliyev for study. According to the marathon plan, the book's chapters were divided across several days, and each day, participants received scores based on surveys, discussions, and additional tasks. This approach concluded the first stage of the competition.
As a result, 74 participants with the best performances earned the right to move on to the second stage of the competition. Although the first stage of the marathon had concluded, participants could continue studying “The Emir's Ambassador” by Gylych Kuliyev if they wished.
Gylych Mamedovich Kuliyev
Of course, it's hard to find anyone who doesn't know this outstanding individual. Even during my student years, I myself had a keen interest in his works and biography. I recall one of my articles, written at the suggestion of my mentor-journalist, where I thoroughly analyzed his writings. Gylych Kuliyev, the People's Writer of Turkmenistan, laureate of the Magtymguly State Prize, political figure, diplomat, and historian, has left an indelible mark on Turkmen literature with his works that combine history and the political events of his time.
Now, let's return to the results of today's marathon
Today, the main building of the Institute of International Relations was filled with numerous young book lovers. Diplomats shared with the winners of the first stage of the competition the benefits of reading, the significance of Gylych Kuliyev's work, and their own professional experiences.
Following this, a ceremony was held to present honorary certificates and commemorative gifts prepared by the organizers.
In their speeches, participants expressed gratitude and shared their impressions of the marathon, as well as discussed, their preparation for the event and the knowledge they gained during it.
The marathon became not only an engaging competition for the participants but also a wide platform for exchanging opinions among young reading enthusiasts, fully justifying the efforts of the organizers.
