Turkmen Delegation Participates in UNDP educational events in Kazakhstan focused on environmental awareness and climate challenges

From October 27 to November 1, 2024, significant educational events organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) took place in Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan. The events included the 3rd International Teachers’ Conference, the 2nd International School Festival, and the 1st Climate School. Delegations from nine countries, including Turkmenistan, participated in the events, where participants actively discussed the environmental agenda and the role of education in sustainable development.

The Turkmen delegation consisted of three students and three teachers who joined the international community to discuss ecology issues and the role of education in preparing for climate challenges. At the conference and festival, participants exchanged experiences, presented educational approaches, and shared ideas on environmental education.

The 3rd International Teachers' Conference brought together educators and ecology experts to discuss the role of school education in shaping environmental awareness among young people. The primary focus was on methods to inspire students’ interest in environmental protection and raise awareness of climate change. Turkmen teachers shared their developments in using interactive environmental games and educational materials.

The 2nd International School Festival became a platform for young participants to present their projects and ideas on environmental issues. Topics discussed included reducing carbon footprints, preserving biodiversity, and protecting water resources. Turkmen students generated interest with their research focused on addressing pressing environmental issues.

At the 1st Climate School, students and teachers had the opportunity to learn about the impact of climate change on the environment. The program included lectures, workshops, and excursions, allowing participants to better understand climate adaptation mechanisms.

Holding such events under UNDP’s auspices underscores the importance of international cooperation in environmental education. Organizers expressed confidence that these conferences and festivals would help prepare a generation ready to tackle the ecological challenges of the future, as noted on the Ministry of Education's website.
