Magtymguly was honored at Minsk House of Friendship
15.08.2024 | 18:00 |The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Minsk held a solemn event dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the classic of Turkmen literature, philosopher Magtymguly Fragi. The event was held on 14 August in the building of the Belarusian Society of Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries - the House of Friendship.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Minsk, as well as Professor Igor Goncharenko, director of the Belarusian-Uzbek Interdepartmental Institute of Applied Technical Qualifications, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Moreover, journalists, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora and students from Minsk universities were present.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Belarus Nazarguly Shagulyev and the Chairperson of the Presidium of the Belarusian Society of Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Nina Ivanova delivered welcoming remarks.
The Ambassador informed the audience about the concept of the International Forum “Interconnection of Times and Civilizations - the Basis of Modern Peace and Development” dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly, which will be held on 11 October in Ashgabat with the participation of leaders of many countries and international organizations.
Shagulyev emphasized that, in accordance with the decree of the President of Turkmenistan, 2024 has been declared the year of large-scale celebrations in honor of the 300th anniversary of the classic of Turkmen literature. In this regard, a plan of festive events has been approved, according to which large-scale celebrations of Magtymguly are being held not only in our country, but all over the world.
Then, the Chairperson of the Presidium of the Belarusian Society of Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries spoke about the place of Magtymguly Fragi in the world literature, and made a special mention of the work of the Belarusian translators, including M.Myatlisky, R.Borodulin, G.Charkazyan, V.Shnip and K.Komeisha, who participated in translating the poems of the Turkmen poet into Belarusian.
Honoured Culture Worker of the Republic of Belarus, laureate of the National Literature Prize of Belarus Mikhail Pozdnyakov and Belarusian actor, director, TV presenter Oleg Vinyarsky made speeches on the literary work of Magtymguly.
The event continued with a speech by Viktor Shnip, a renowned writer, poet and journalist, a recipient of the Francysk Skaryna Medal.
Members of the Belarusian Society of Friendship and students who recited his poems in Turkmen, Belarusian and Russian shared their thoughts and the importance of Magtymguly’s ideas in the modern era.
The event featured thematic videos, a photo exhibition and a festive concert, according to the diplomatic mission.
