 Kazakhstan was the first in the CIS to join the ICAO program on environmentally friendly aviation fuel

Kazakhstan was the first in the Commonwealth of Independent States to join the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Capacity Building and Training Support in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (ACT-SAF) program.

A corresponding agreement was signed between Kazakhstan and ICAO in Astana, the press service of the Republic’s Ministry of Transport reports. The document was signed by Vice Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Talgat Lastaev and regional director of the European/North Atlantic Bureau of the international organization Nicolas Rallo.

The agreement provides for assistance to Kazakhstan in developing and participating in the activities of this program, including the exchange of best practices and up-to-date information, conducting educational seminars and trainings, as well as technical assistance in matters related to environmentally friendly aviation fuel.

The International Civil Aviation Organization has set a goal of achieving net zero emissions from international flights by 2050.
