 The smartphone market grew 8.4% last quarter

According to the international research company International Data Corporation (IDC), in the first quarter of this year, the smartphone market showed growth of 8.4%.

289.4 million smartphones were shipped worldwide, which is 7.8% more than the in same period of the last year.

Samsung again became the largest supplier, surpassing Apple. The South Korean manufacturer's share was 20.8% and 60.1 million smartphones shipped. But it should be noted that compared to the same period of the last year, the company reduced the volume of product deliveries by 0.7%.

But the Chinese Xiaomi, which closes the top three, showed an increase in shipments by 33.8% to 40.8 million smartphones.

In fourth place is another company from the Celestial Empire, Transsion, with 28.5 million smartphones and a market share of 9.9%. Over the year, it immediately increased its supplies by 84.9%.

According to IDC analysts, in the near future Samsung and Apple will continue to hold leading positions in the smartphone market.

Company representatives also confirm the upward trend in the average selling price of smartphones.
