 TIKA wants to intensify contacts with Turkmenistan in the field of cultural monuments

President of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) Serkan Kayalar, after visiting Anau for the ceremony of declaring this Turkmen city as the capital of the Turkic world in 2024, said that the agency seeks to intensify cooperation with Turkmenistan in the new period of relations.

In particular, TIKA wants to expand cooperation between the historical cities of Anau, Merv and Kunyaurgench, TRT Avaz reports.

Serkan Kayalar noted that TIKA develops projects according to the priorities and needs of countries, contributing to the development of institutional infrastructure in all sectors of the economy, from healthcare to agriculture. The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency promotes the protection of common historical and cultural monuments in more than 170 countries.

In Turkmenistan, with the assistance of TIKA, in 2004, a project on restoration of the mausoleum of Sultan Sanjar on the territory of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve “Ancient Merv” was completed.
