Uzbek and Turkmen filmmakers have agreed on plans for a joint film about Magtymguly
29.03.2024 | 15:56 |Uzbek filmmakers visited Ashgabat, where they took part in a media forum and discussed with their Turkmen colleagues the details of working together to shoot a feature film about Magtymguly Pyragy.
The creation of a feature film dedicated to Magtymguly Pyragy, with the cooperation of cinematographers of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan on the basis of a state order, is provided for by the decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the wide celebration of the 300 th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet and thinker.
Currently, work on the upcoming film is at the stage of script approval. It is planned that filming will take place, among other things, in the poet's small homeland in the Sumbara Valley, in the area now named after Magtymguly (formerly Gargala) in the Balkan region of Turkmenistan, as well as in the Uzbek cities of Khiva and Bukhara.
The next arrival of the Uzbek participants of the joint film crew is expected in May. It is planned that the main character of the film will be played by a Turkmen actor.
