A concert dedicated to Magtymguly will be held in Moscow with the participation of artists from Turkmenistan and Russia
14.03.2024 | 21:16 |The Moscow International Arts Festival “Sounds of Dutar” named after Nury Halmamedov opens the new season with a dedication concert “The Fount of the Mind of Magtymguly Fragi.”
A musical and theatrical performance dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the great classic of Turkmen literature and prominent thinker of the East will be presented on April 7 at the Museum and Exhibition Complex of the Russian Academy of Arts. Starts at 16:00.
The list of UNESCO memorial dates in 2024 was supplemented by the celebration of the anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, which confirms the significance of his work for world culture. The organizing committee of the VIII Moscow International Arts Festival “Sounds of Dutar” considered it its honorable duty to celebrate this event together with residents and guests of the capital of the Russian Federation, setting the goal of maximally illuminating the sphere of spiritual wealth bequeathed by the poet-philosopher to humanity.
The organizing committee has developed and prepared a varied and rich program, which starts on April 7 with the named concert and ends at the end of 2024. Information about subsequent events and news on the program will be covered in detail on the festival website and in ORIENT.
The dedication concert “The Fount of the Mind of Magtymguly Fragi” under the patronage of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation is the first grand event with the participation of cultural and art figures of the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan in a series of events planned in honor of Magtymguly in Moscow.
The program will feature works by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Eduardo di Capua, Maurice Ravel, Danatar Ovezov, Alexandra Pakhmutova, Nury Halmamedov, Chary Nurymov, Kirill Volkov, Mamed Huseynov.
Vocal compositions based on brilliant poems by poets of different times and peoples - Magtymguly, Mollanepes, Khadzhi Kakaliev, Ata Atajanov, Nikolai Dobronravov, Giovanni Capurro, Andrey Dementyev, Charles Baudelaire, Tristan Klingsor, Mikhail Lermontov - will bring true pleasure not only to a sophisticated audience, but will touch the heart every viewer.
The artist of the Helikon-Opera theater Daria Huseynova will perform the mono-opera “Monologues of Magtymguly Fragi” by composer Mamed Huseynov. A large-scale vocal-instrumental work for soprano, cello and orchestra (arranged for piano) includes five parts, which are based on the poet’s poems “Calling”, “Beginnings”, “Sadness”, “Truth”, “Good and Evil”, focusing philosophical revelations of the poet about human destiny, moral quests, spiritual daring.
– It is a great honor and pride for me that this year our festival is dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly. Our organizing committee tried to prepare an interesting program with a wide scope in order to attract as many participants and spectators as possible,” art director of the “Sounds of Dutar” festival, composer Mamed Huseynov says.
Applications are already being accepted for the international reading competition “Universe of the Word”, the illustration competition “Reflection”, the composer competition “Musical works based on the poems of Magtymguly Fragi” and the project competition “Seeds of Wisdom: Lessons from Great Minds”.
– The festival organizing committee receives many messages from our future contestants with questions about where one can purchase collections of Magtymguly’s poems in order to prepare, whether it is possible to use this or that source on the Internet, translations of poems by which authors are the best? Our partners from the Russian State Library note that in recent weeks orders for publications of Magtymguly’s poems have increased,” Mamed Huseynov said.
“So the trend is good,” the composer and art director of the multicultural project “Sounds of Dutar” added.
