Turkmenistan at UI GreenMetric: Eco-projects presented in France

From June 17 to 20, the 11th International Conference of the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking Agency took place in Nice. This significant event, jointly organized with the French Côte d'Azur University and the University of Indonesia, served as an important platform for promoting Turkmenistan's achievements in higher education, particularly in the field of sustainable development. The conference also contributed to strengthening international cooperation in this crucial area.

The forum focused on the theme "Achieving Sustainable Development Goals in Higher Education: The History of Our Organization and Society". Its primary objectives were to foster international cooperation, facilitate the exchange of experiences, and promote collaborative ecological initiatives among higher education institutions worldwide.

Turkmenistan was represented at the conference by scholars from the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University and the Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University.

It is important to note that in 2024, the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University secured the 474th position in the "UI GreenMetric World University Rankings" which assesses universities based on six indicators of sustainable development and environmental practices.

Two significant projects from Turkmen universities were presented at the conference:

The Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov presented a project on the production of organo-mineral fertilizers from livestock waste, demonstrating environmentally sound processing of agricultural waste.

A representative from the Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University presented research on the use of biofuel from the microalga Chlorella vulgaris as a sustainable energy source and the environmentally friendly processing of irrigation water.

Participation in the conference enabled Turkmen universities to exchange experiences and discuss forthcoming challenges in achieving Sustainable Development Goals within higher education.
