Central Asian countries will launch a general online resource on climate change in the region

Development of own information resources on climate and its change is not always efficient and economically feasible. This is especially a hot topic for countries with similar natural and weather conditions that are fighting together against the climate change. Therefore, the Central Asian countries have united in creating a common resource of the CACIP – the Central Asian Climate Information Platform.

Within the framework of the project “Program for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation in the Aral Sea basin” (CAMP4ASB) with the support of RECCA CACIP project should be completed by September 2020.

The platform will include integrated interactive tools and e-learning opportunities. The main goal of the portal is convenient access to global, regional and local data and information on climate change, as well as their processing and visualization in the form of infographics, maps, etc. The resource will also provide databases, thematic scientific publications, reports, information about successful experiences, events, and other types of information.

Even now, more than 11 thousand documents have been uploaded to CACIP. Interface is in 7 languages: English, Russian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik, Turkmen, and Uzbek. The platform is geared to the climate information needs of various target groups: farmers, researchers, eco-activists, etc.

Consultations with stakeholders and institutions in the Central Asian countries are currently being held on CACIP. On this basis, it is planned fine tuning the online resource and its promotion.
