Theater festival in Turkmenistan presents the performing arts of neighboring countries
15.11.2023 | 01:39 |The IV International Festival “Theatrical Art of the Happy Era” opened in Ashgabat on Tuesday, November 14, with a procession of stage groups from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation (Tatarstan), Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan. The ceremony took place on the square in front of the Main Academic Drama Theater of Turkmenistan.
For the guests, the festival hosts prepared a welcome performance with the participation of theater, circus, dance ensembles and musicians, at the end of which white doves were released.
Then the official part of the event took place in the theater hall, which began with a message from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the participants and organizers of the festival. The congratulatory address of the head of state was read by Deputy Prime Minister Myakhrijemal Mammedova.
After a colorful costume composition on a patriotic theme and a demonstration of a video about the theatrical art of Turkmenistan, representatives of the countries participating in the festival took the stage, some with a speech, some with a song - this is how the delegates introduced their groups and expressed the joy of meeting. There was also a video presentation of the performances that will be shown at the festival.
The theatrical blitz marathon began with screenings in four theaters at once. The State Drama Theater named after Aman Gulmammedov of the city of Arkadag presented its production “Köňüller kelamy”, dedicated to the life and work of Magtymguly Fragi, and the National Drama Theater named after Alp Arslan staged the play “The Fate of the Defenseless” of the Taldykorgan Drama Theater named after Biken Rimova, Kazakhstan.
“Night away from the homeland” - this production of the Tajik State Youth Theater named after Mahmudzhon Vakhidov gathered spectators at the Main Drama Theater of Turkmenistan. The Musical Drama Theater of Khorezm region, Uzbekistan, staged the play “Shasenem and Gharib” at the National Music and Drama Theater named after Magtymguly.
On Wednesday, November 15, the performance “The Alien” of the Tatar State Academic Theater named after Galiasgar Kamal will be shown at the Magtymguly Theater, and the Alp Arslan Theater invites you to its production based on the story “The White Steamer” by Chingiz Aitmatov. Spectators are also invited to the National Music and Drama Theater named after Magtymguly for the play “Love and Sorrow” based on the play by Govshutgeldi Danatarov based on the eastern legend of Leyla and Majnun.
The Batken Musical and Drama Theater named after Appaz Zhainakov, Kyrgyzstan, will perform at the Aman Gulmammedov Theater in the city of Arkadag with the production “Magtymguli Fragi”.
On Thursday, November 16th, The Main Academic Drama Theater of Turkmenistan will show the play “Makhtumkuli - the word of the soul”, and the Shusha State Musical Drama Theater, Azerbaijan, will present the play “Edelweiss, or You are always with me” on the stage of the National Musical Drama Theater of Turkmenistan named after Magtymguly.
On the sidelines of the forum, a working meeting of directors of theater groups and creative figures will be held on the development of performing arts, its role in the preservation of national culture, in the transmission of spiritual heritage to subsequent generations, and the development of creative ties between theaters.
At the end of the forum, diplomas and prizes will be awarded to festival participants at the Main Academic Drama Theater of Turkmenistan.
