Paradise on Earth – The World of butterflies in Miami
29.10.2023 | 11:08 |Do you want to go to heaven on earth? Then go to sunny Florida, where the most beautiful butterfly park in the world is located, the only one of its kind.
Butterfly World is a "Butterfly world" in the Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek, in the suburbs of Miami. The wonderful place was opened in 1988 and was a research center for lepidoptera (the scientific name of butterflies). But the famous London landscape designer James Gardner turned the park into a real tropical paradise, creating the world's largest butterfly kingdom. 20 thousand species of these insects live here. Strange hummingbirds and other exotic birds fly next to them.
The park welcomes its guests with a lively fluttering parade, promising incredible impressions and relaxation surrounded by aerial creatures. The unique nature reserve is spread over several hectares. Amazingly beautiful thematic zones have been created on its territory – "Rose Garden", "Wings of the World", "Tropical Forest", "Paradise Adventures" and others. There is a place where you can see the transformation of pupae into butterflies, and in the plant shop to buy seedlings and flower shoots and try to create a piece of the wonderful world on your own plot or balcony.
Have you ever seen giant butterflies whose wingspan reaches 30cm? They flutter in this park. And there are also such rare representatives as Isabella, Blue Morpho, Malachite butterfly. The park is specially designed in such a way that insects feel great and can flit around the "house" completely freely among flowering plants rich in nectar. Part of the reserve, with especially rare species, is covered with a grid so that individual specimens are not lost.
Thanks to the skill of designers, amazing worlds of flowers, waterfalls, continuously blooming garden sculptures and many more beautiful things appeared in the park. The sites "English Rose Garden" and "Secret Forest" are striking - they are distinguished by thoughtful landscape design of European culture with aristocratic taste. Blooming fragrant plants that attract butterflies are collected here.
The Paradise Adventures zone serves as a habitat for inconspicuous butterflies and colorful giant butterflies. Behind the glass door, the world of relaxation begins – winged beauties literally whirl in a dance to symphonic music. The sounds of flowing water in fountains and waterfalls, the vegetation of tropical forests, ponds with suspension bridges and fragrant hanging gardens complement this idyll, turning it into a fabulous place.
But in the area called "Treasures of the Sky" there are hummingbirds - the smallest birds on the planet. It is interesting to observe how birds whose size is smaller than some butterflies, flashing their wings, fly rapidly at the speed of a car. There are also aviaries with other birds that can be fed by hand.
And in the park you can see with your own eyes how butterflies are born! Throughout Butterfly World there are glass showcases with hanging dolls that turn into magnificent butterflies. It is interesting to watch how they spread and dry their wings for the first time, and then fly out into the world. And if you spray yourself with a special spray, which can be purchased here in the store, weightless beauties, dancing, will sit right on you.
The laboratory is the holy of holies of the park, where guests witness all stages of the butterfly's life. Through the huge windows, they can see hundreds of caterpillars of different shapes and colors, located on green leaves. Only a specialist will tell you exactly which one of them will become a luxurious beauty, and which one will be an inconspicuous gray butterfly that does not attract attention. Some lepidoptera have a life cycle lasting from several months to a year, while others live in the world for only a few weeks.
There are also special insectariums in the park where butterflies, beetles, moths, scorpions and other abodes live. Here visitors can "lift the veil" of the ordinary life of insects in the foliage of plants and observe the intimate moment of oviposition or how a caterpillar grows and pupates, turning into a butterfly.
Be sure to take a look at the unique museum, which houses amazing exhibits from the life of these beautiful creatures. It is located here on the territory of the park, And in the souvenir shop you can buy everything to create your own, home world of butterflies in memory of a wonderful visit.
