A chess player from Turkmenistan, international master Saparmurat Atabayev, won the first Neyshekar international tournament by a margin, which was held from October 5 to 11 in the city of Ahvaz, Iran.

Having scored 7.5 points out of 9 possible, Saparmurat beat his nearest competitor - Iranian international grandmaster Masoud Musadehpour by 2 points.

Saparmurat also fulfilled his second grandmaster norm and moved to the first place among Turkmen chess players in the FIDE rating list with a current rating of 2477. Thus, we can say that he scored a chess "hat trick" in this tournament.

Saparmurat's older brother, international grandmaster Maksat Atabayev, was a little unlucky, who scored 4.5 points and took 4th place according to additional indicators.

The round-robin tournament was attended by 10 chess players, including three international grandmasters, four international masters, one FIDE master and two national masters from Iran.

Now Saparmurat is going to prepare for the World Rapid Chess and Blitz Chess Championship, which will be held at the end of the year and where all the strongest chess players in the world will participate, including the leader of the world ranking list Magnus Carlsen.
