The floating mosque, which will be the first in the history of Islam to depart from the traditional architecture of places of worship, will be built in Dubai, the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities reports.
A unique structure will be located right on the Dubai Canal and will cost the budget $15 million. A new mega-project aims to develop the religious tourism sector and the UAE hopes to attract more travelers, including Muslims, to the country.
The mosque building will have three floors - two above-water levels and one underwater - this is a prayer hall. The building can simultaneously accommodate up to 75 believers. Moreover, the mosque will be open to representatives of all religions, but an indispensable condition is to dress and behave in accordance with Islamic customs and traditions.
