An ultra-rare white cougar has appeared in Nicaragua
28.08.2023 | 00:01 |A white cougar was born in a Nicaraguan zoo. This is one of four animals of such a rare species in the world. An albino cougar was born at the Thomas Belt Zoo in Nicaragua. Its gender has not yet been determined.
Zoo veterinarian Carlos Molina said there are only four such white cougars on the planet, and a newborn kitten is one of them. There were two more kittens in the litter, but they are the usual beige or brown color without spots, like their parents.
Mother and kittens are in an isolated cage to protect them from stress and odors. If the mother smells a human smell on the kittens, she may attack them. The father is separated from the family so as not to harm the kids. They will be available for viewing by visitors when they are three months old.
The white kitten is healthy and eating well, the veterinarian shared. The veterinarian also noted that albino cougars are very vulnerable to sunlight and need special care.
