29.07.2023 | 11:13 |The ecologist of the Nature Protection Society of Turkmenistan, Hojamyrat Hojamyradov, was able to photograph a bird that had not previously been found on the territory of Turkmenistan on the territory of the Koytendag State Nature Reserve.
After discussions between ornithologists of the Badkhyz state guide Nury Hudaygulyev and Kaplankyrsky — Arazmyrat Amanov, scientists, using the determinants of avifauna, came to the conclusion that this individual is new in the country.
The news about this was published today in the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan".
Already in the office, armed with information from the Internet library, it was determined that it was a white-capped or water redstart, which belongs to the Asian species of passerine birds from the flycatcher family. It turned out that the individual itself is listed in the Red Book in the traditional places of its habitat.
This representative of birds was discovered and captured in a multi-kilometer canyon Darai-dere, in which a clean small river was able to form a rich flora and fauna here. Earlier, Turkmen biologists recorded new species of butterflies, bluebirds and paradise flycatchers here.
Next season, scientists hope to meet the individual again for its further description and scientific confirmation of changes in its range.
The white-capped redstart lives on the territory of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, China and Myanmar.
