Turkmen swimmers won 10 medals of various denominations at the qualifying tournament for the World Championship, which ended in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).
As the Turkmenistan Aquatics Federation informed ORIENT, on the final day of the competition, Turkmen athletes won two medals — one silver and one bronze.
Merdan Atayev, Master of Sports of international class, won a silver medal in the 50-meter backstroke, covering the distance in 27.28 seconds.
The bronze medal was awarded to the Turkmen national team by Ainura Primova in the 50-meter backstroke (32.21 seconds).
Thus, according to the results of the competition, Turkmen swimmers won ten medals — 4 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze.
Turkmen swimmers performed under the leadership of Vladimir Novikov and Mark Pilyugin.
265 swimmers (196 men and 69 women) from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan took part in the qualifying tournament for the World Championships, which was held on April 18-22 in Tashkent.
