 Duke Henri: Luxembourg and Turkmenistan need to learn more about each other

Ambassador Sapar Palvanov presented his credentials to His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg. The award ceremony took place at the Palais Grand-Ducal Palace of the Grand Dukes.

After the solemn ceremony, the Turkmen ambassador was given an audience of the monarch, at which the prospects of multifaceted cooperation between the two states were discussed, in the format of bilateral relations and on the platforms Turkmenistan-EU, EU-Central Asia. It was about the possibilities of expanding economic ties, and other issues were considered, including those related to the security of the region.

The Turkmen diplomat conveyed greetings from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and confirmed the readiness of the Government of the country to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The Ambassador assured that he would make every effort to develop the Turkmen-Luxembourg cooperation at a new level and said that work has already begun on establishing a systematic dialogue between the business circles of the two countries.

The Duke fully supported this initiative and added that the parties need to learn more about each other.

It was noted that both states have good prospects for realizing the potential of cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, and the key to this is regular communication at various levels.

Duke Henri also welcomed Turkmenistan's policy aimed at supporting common efforts to combat climate change, namely reducing methane emissions. Sapar Palvanov stressed that, being an energy power, Turkmenistan does not stand aside from the common fight against climate change, takes the necessary measures to implement national plans in this area.


Luxembourg ranks first in the world in terms of GDP per capita. Luxembourg ranks third in the list of countries with the most efficient business. It is one of the world's largest financial and business centers. The headquarters of the European Investment Bank is located here, and 150 other banks operate in the country.

On October 2, 2022, Turkmenistan and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. The time has come to take significant steps towards expanding and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
