Oleg Kononenko is practicing the skills of managing the docking of cargo spacecraft
17.02.2023 | 00:52 |The cosmonauts of the next long-term Russian expedition to the ISS, which will be headed by our countryman Oleg Kononenko, continue to prepare for the flight. Last time we worked out emergency situations, but now we trained to control the approach and docking of unmanned objects to the station.
To do this, use the "Cameraman" device. The training is aimed at preparing crews for the implementation of manual control of the approach and docking of cargo spacecraft or retrofit modules.
"The control of these operations is carried out by astronauts from the International Space Station. As a rule, the docking of unmanned objects takes place automatically, but experts take into account possible flight scenarios and prepare astronauts for any emergency situations," the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center said.
At the end of the lesson, the crew showed accuracy and a high level of manual docking control skills, and also received a positive assessment from the instructors. A week earlier, Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub controlled the automatic docking of a transport cargo ship with the ISS.
