Vienna-Bratislava Bike Tour and the Central Asian bivouac on the path

The mission of Turkmenistan to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in the Austrian capital, together with the diplomatic missions of Kazakhstan and Slovakia, held an autumn bike tour along the Vienna-Bratislava path that became traditional, gathering officials and politicians by 70 km action of sports and goodwill.

For the world today, focusing on environmentally friendly means of transport – both from the point of view to reduce emission of harmful substances into the air and in terms of social rapprochement when using “open” means of transportation is of particular importance. And Turkmenistan works diligently to promote a philosophy of peace and trust for the region and the world through initiatives of sports and humanitarian contacts.

At the 20 km of the route from Vienna to the capital of Slovakia, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Austria organized a “Central Asian” bivouac, where bike riders enjoyed cuisine of Central Asian countries. The presentation of the initiative of Turkmenistan on the establishment of the World Bicycle Day was held here.

The initiative was supported in April 2018 by adopting a UN resolution according to which the United Nations has declared June 3rd as International World Bicycle Day. Thousands of citizens and residents of the countryside show the interest in the “iron horse” as a type of transport, and not just as a children’s entertainment or sports equipment. The bike ride enjoys wide popularity among “the powerful ones of this world”- high-level government officials, businessmen and artists.

About 60 bike riders joined the Vienna-Bratislava cycle route, including diplomatic missions accredited in Austria, representatives of international organizations in Vienna. The organizers hope that next year more participants will support the action and the event will unite even more followers of a healthy lifestyle and “green” transport.
