The UAE has started testing new biometric technologies at Abu Dhabi International Airport, allowing flights without having to present a passport, Arabian Business writes.
Advanced solutions based on artificial intelligence have been implemented as part of the project of the local company NEXT50. They are designed to speed up check-in at the airport and eliminate the need for passports. In addition, the new technology will reduce waiting times and queues.
The systems will use high-tech biometric cameras to check passenger information at several points at the airport, including the waiting room and boarding gate. By analyzing the image of the passenger's face, intelligent cameras check whether he is allowed to travel. The same information is used before boarding, which avoids the re-submission of documents.
According to the company's representatives, after the completion of the project, Abu Dhabi Airport will become the only one in the region with biometric solutions at all points of interaction with customers.
