Turkmenistan received five mainline diesel locomotives from Russia

Five mainline freight diesel locomotives built by the Bryansk Engineering Plant (part of JSC “Transmashholding”, the largest Russian manufacturer of rolling stock for rail transport), have arrived in Turkmenistan.

On the occasion of the arrival of new diesel locomotives, a festive meeting was held at the Ashgabat railway station, and the elders, according to the folk tradition, wished powerful vehicles a bright, safe road and long service.

The 2TE25KM locomotives were delivered to the Turkmen state railway operator “Demiryollary” OJSC, according to a contract concluded with “Transmashholding” in August 2022.

Freight diesel locomotives of the Bryansk Engineering Plant are already known in Turkmenistan. In 2021, the Demiryollary company purchased one diesel locomotive, which proved to be excellent in operation.

Representatives of Demiryollara note the quality and reliability of Bryansk equipment, and intend to continue cooperation with BEP to upgrade and expand the company's locomotive fleet.

The 2TE25KM mainline freight locomotive makes it possible to effectively organize the transportation of large volumes of cargo on non-electrified lines of 1520 mm gauge railways. Machines of this series have been produced at BEP since 2014 and have proven themselves well when working in various climatic conditions (including areas with dry and hot climates) on sections with a difficult track profile.

Modernization and renewal of the technical park of the railway industry are carried out in Turkmenistan on a systematic basis in order to increase volumes, expand the geography of transportation, and implement major international projects in the transport and logistics sector.
