Today, on October 1, residents of the world's largest country by population celebrate their main holiday – the Day of the Formation of the People's Republic of China.

According to the inhabitants of the Celestial Empire, this is their youngest, but extremely important holiday. It is celebrated for seven days, calling it the "Golden Week". And they celebrate in all corners of China with special solemnity and pomp.

Chinese civilization is one of the oldest – its age is about 5 thousand years. And although the name of the country, according to Chinese hieroglyphs, translates as "Middle State", China acquired its second name – "Celestial Empire" – due to the fact that during the reign of the Shan Dynasty, the emperor was worshipped as the messenger of "Heaven", calling him "Son of Heaven".

And the Chinese perceived the "Sky" itself as a sacred abode (which, in general, coincides with the ancient ideas of the Turkmens ("Tangra"). And the entrance to this divine abode, according to ancient beliefs, was right above their country. Hence the second name of China – the Celestial Empire.

For many centuries, this mysterious country was ruled by monarchs, until their dynasties came to an end at the beginning of the XX century after the victory of the Xinhai Revolution. But after a decade and a half, a long civil war began, lasting 22 years, ending with the victory of Mao Zedong's supporters.

And then, on October 1, 1949, the birth of a new state – the People's Republic of China – was announced on the main square of China – Tiananmen. Since then, on this day, the main holiday of the country is celebrated – the Day of the Formation of the People's Republic of China.

This holiday, as already mentioned, has other names – "Long holidays in honor of October 1", "Golden Week", etc., and all because it is celebrated for seven days.

On this day, those gathered in Tiananmen Square, where the embalmed body of the founder of the Communist Party of China, Mao Zedong, rests in the mausoleum, are waiting to see how in the last moments of the predawn darkness, the solemn raising of the flag will begin, which will coincide with sunrise.

Then there will be a grandiose fireworks display, a festive concert, mass celebrations, etc. The streets of large and small cities, full of floral arrangements, will be crowded with crowds of people, songs sound everywhere, national symbols flash everywhere – figurines of dragons and elephants, which are revered by the Chinese as symbols of prosperity. And his Chinese people have achieved their independent development in seven decades.
