China-Central Asia gas pipeline transports over 10 bln cubic meters in Q1
18.04.2022 | 16:30 |The China-Central Asia Gas Pipeline delivered 10.07 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China in the first quarter of this year, according to PipeChina West Pipeline Company
Last year, the pipeline sent about 44.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China, said the company.
The pipeline has a length of 1,833 km, a design capacity for gas transportation of 60 billion cubic meters per year and was put into operation in December 2009.
The pipeline starts from the border between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, then passes through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and connects to the West-East gas pipeline at Khorgos, in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China, and is China's first cross-border gas pipeline.
Turkmenistan continues to rank first in the export of pipeline natural gas to China. Russia is in second place, followed by Myanmar, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
To date, China has purchased more than 300 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Turkmenistan.
