Turkmenistan has adopted the new national program on the Aral. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov approved it during the government meeting on Friday.
The program will last until 2025. Its plan of action covers concrete measures under on solution of tasks of the program within next several years.
The basic goals of the program are focused on preservation of the environment in the climate change context, improvement of social, economic, and ecological situation in the Aral zone of Turkmenistan and decrease in negative influence of the Aral crisis. The document also relies on positions of the resolution of the UN GA on cooperation between the United Nations Organization and the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS).
