The 55th session of the UN Statistical Commission took place from February 27 to March 1 at the UN headquarters in New York. The meetings were attended by heads and representatives of the national statistical sector of 24 member states of the Commission, observers from other countries, representatives of organizations of the UN system and international and non-governmental organizations in consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council.

The strategic basis of trade and economic cooperation is partnership in the energy sector, in particular in the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline project, power transmission lines and fiber-optic communications along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route. This was discussed at a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on Thursday, February 29, with Ambassador of Pakistan Irfan Ahmed, who was completing his diplomatic mission in the country.
