Amid global changes, stable international partnerships are becoming increasingly important. Political dialogue and economic cooperation provide opportunities for countries to pursue shared development while contributing to regional peace and stability.

Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said in Beijing on November 2 during the Sultan's state visit to China.

Xi highlighted the longstanding friendship between the two countries, noting that political mutual trust has strengthened and mutually beneficial cooperation has produced tangible results.

He said China is ready to work with Oman to elevate their strategic partnership, deliver greater benefits to both peoples and contribute to regional peace and prosperity.

Xi described the visit as historic, marking the first trip by an Omani head of state to China since diplomatic relations were established 48 years ago. He expressed confidence that the talks would provide fresh momentum for bilateral relations.

The Chinese President called for stronger practical cooperation, particularly in energy, investment and high-tech innovation. He also encouraged closer exchanges in industry, artificial intelligence, science, technology and culture.

Education, tourism, healthcare, media and sports were identified as additional areas for expanding bilateral engagement.

Regional security was another major topic. Xi said the Middle East and the Gulf region should not become an arena for major-power rivalry or geopolitical confrontation.

He reaffirmed China's willingness to strengthen communication and coordination with Arab countries and members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, including Oman, to promote an early restoration of peace and lasting regional stability.

Sultan Haitham reaffirmed Oman's commitment to the one-China principle and expressed support for China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He noted that China has remained Oman's largest trading partner for many years, while Chinese investment and economic cooperation have continued to expand.

The Sultan expressed interest in deepening cooperation in trade, infrastructure, industry, investment, artificial intelligence and scientific innovation.

He also praised China's position on Middle East affairs and expressed Oman's readiness to work with Beijing to uphold international law and resolve disputes peacefully through dialogue and consultation.

Following the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of cooperation documents covering industrial and supply chains, green development and digital finance.

The two countries also issued a joint statement on deepening their strategic partnership. President Xi later hosted a welcoming banquet for Sultan Haitham.

As reported by SSTV+, China and Oman have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding strategic cooperation following high-level talks in Beijing, with new agreements covering industrial development, green growth and digital finance.
