North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has succeeded in stopping the spread of a grassland fire from neighboring Mongolia, with the situation generally under control as of Thursday, local authorities said.

The fire broke out on the Mongolian side on Friday and spread toward China's border areas in Xilin Gol League, threatening to move further toward Hinggan League. Strong winds repeatedly intensified the flames and caused new flare-ups.

More than 3,400 professional firefighters and emergency personnel were deployed to the border area to contain the fire.

After several days of joint firefighting efforts, the spread of the blaze was stopped along more than 330 kilometers of the border.

Officials said the regional fire control command activated its emergency response mechanism immediately after receiving the alarm, while meteorological authorities began continuous satellite monitoring of the fire.

Firefighters used a combination of active suppression, removal of combustible materials and expansion of firebreaks. The operation was divided into five zones and carried out in stages.

According to CCTV+, coordinated efforts by firefighting and emergency teams have successfully blocked the fire from crossing further into China and significantly reduced the risk of renewed spread.
