China's software industry revenue exceeds 1.5 trillion U.S. dollars

China's software and information technology services industry recorded steady growth in the first eight months of 2026, supported by rising exports and continued expansion in cloud computing and big data services.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, industry revenue rose 8.8 percent year on year from January to August, reaching 10.282 trillion yuan, or about 1.53 trillion U.S. dollars.

Software exports increased 12.5 percent to 45.99 billion U.S. dollars. Total industry profit rose 1.3 percent to 1.184 trillion yuan, equivalent to around 177 billion U.S. dollars.

Information technology services remained the industry's largest segment, with revenue rising 9.6 percent and accounting for 68.7 percent of the total.

Within the segment, revenue from cloud computing and big data services grew 11.1 percent, accounting for 17.3 percent of information technology services revenue.

According to CCTV+, software product revenue increased 6 percent during the first eight months and accounted for 21.5 percent of the industry's overall revenue.
