Turkmenistan increases output of canned fruits and vegetables

A new plant for production of canned fruits and vegetables was opened in Chekir village of Lebap velayat. Turkmen gourmets will be able to vary their dietary intake with jams, pickles, compotes, juices and other canned food, prepared entirely from natural products grown in the eastern region of the country.
Automated production is equipped with up-to-ddate equipment and meets international safety and health standards. The opening of the plant, built by private enterprise “Ýakyn dost” (which means “Close friend”) against preferential credits, will contribute to the growth of the velayat economy, as well to the turnover of local fruit and vegetable farms and individual entrepreneurs that grow agricultural products.
Considering the ecological purity of raw materials and the high quality of the products produced by the fruit and vegetable factory, it is planned to supply it not only to the domestic market, but also to export.
In January-April 2018, production of canned fruits and vegetables in Turkmenistan increased by 3.1 percent compared to the same period of last year. Launching the plant will ensure the growth of this indicator, since the new enterprise is designed to produce 1 million cans of canned food per year.
