Tianshan freight trains increase services during National Day holiday

During the National Day holiday, the “Tianshan” cross-border freight train service operated at peak capacity from the Urumqi International Land Port, with up to three departures per day to Central Asia and Europe.
To speed up customs clearance, railway authorities, customs officials and station operators worked around the clock under a coordinated dispatching mechanism. Streamlined procedures helped improve cross-border logistics efficiency.
As of September 30, the Tianshan China-Europe and China-Central Asia freight service had completed more than 750 trips this year, already approaching its total volume for all of last year.
The service was launched in December 2023 and named after the Tianshan Mountains. It has expanded from just two or three weekly trips in its early stage to regular daily operations, now averaging more than two departures a day and reaching three on peak days.
Its route network currently extends to 19 countries.
According to CCTV+, the growing service is strengthening Xinjiang's transport and logistics links with Central Asia and Europe while supporting more stable cross-border freight flows.
