Wang Yi and Marco Rubio discuss high-level China-US engagement
Dialogue between China and the United States remains an important factor in international stability. Amid a complex global environment, regular high-level communication allows the two countries to maintain contact, explore areas of common ground and develop practical cooperation.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday about high-level engagement between the two countries.
Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said that China-U.S. relations have generally been developing for some time along the path of constructive strategic stability charted by the two heads of state, helping meet the expectations of the international community.
Noting that head-of-state diplomacy serves as an anchor for China-U.S. relations, Wang said both sides should prepare for the next stage of high-level exchanges in a spirit of equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit.
He called on the two sides to strengthen communication, develop cooperation, manage differences, respect each other’s core interests and send a positive signal of their commitment to constructive bilateral relations featuring strategic stability, while jointly promoting peace and development around the world.
Wang and Rubio also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East and other international issues.
As reported by CCTV+, the two sides stressed the importance of maintaining high-level communication and engagement to further develop China-U.S. relations.
