President Berdimuhamedov gave a signal to the start today of realisation of the next transport project - to building of the international airport in Jebel , near to Balkanabat - an administrative centre of Balkan region.
The head of the state arrived in the site decorated with banners with the image of appearance of the future airport, and put the first shovels of concrete in its foundation.
Under the project the total area of the new airport complex located in five kilometres from the settlement of Jebel l, will make up 275 hectares, the runway in length of 3200 metres here will be built. Simultaneously the airport can accept for parking 6 planes and 4 helicopters. Besides the passenger and cargo terminal, a dispatching tower, buildings of rescue and fire service, a set of auxiliary objects will be provided.
The airport infrastructure will include a railway branch line to the complex of the fuel -lubricant resources, centralised distributive power station, power stations of radio engineering and navigating systems, illumination and notification systems, observant towers, objects of meteorological and ornithological systems, parking and others. There will be also land maintenance service of planes of 45 specialised cars.

In immediate proximity from the airport site in Jebel there passes railway Balkanabat-Turkmenbashi, in parallel it - a highway. 6, 5 kilometres away is the sanatorium of Mollakara with its unique salty lake and a medical mud in which direction from the new airport the highway will be built to the existing highway.
In Jebel the enterprise for package of medical mud and sea salt operates. There the construction of the enterprise for release of sound and heat insulating materials from thin basalt fibre and mineral cotton wool has started.

On the other side of formed transport hub, deep into territories roads run to the Balkan cement works - to the largest manufacturer of cement in Central Asia. In 18, 5 kilometres from the airport - the city of Balkanabat, oil capital of the country.
The airport building in Jebel will allow involving direct investments in development of regional transport infrastructure, to increase the volume of passenger traffic and turnover of goods and will have social effect in the form of creation of workplaces and increase of standard of living of local population.
Turkmenistan actively affirms as the status of important transport link of international value, and the considerable role in it is played by modern air harbours of the country which network extends.
