The relevance of the gas supply project from Turkmenistan to Turkey through Iran was emphasized during the 7th meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Turkish Commission on Economic Cooperation, held in Ashgabat on December 6.
In particular, the parties discussed the possibility of supplying Turkmen natural gas to the Turkish market, TDH news agency reports.
Based on the fact that the above-mentioned project is very promising, the parties agreed to start negotiations at the level of heads of relevant departments and companies in the near future.
It is noted that the natural resource base of the Turkmen state, the most important part of which is the Galkynysh deposit, makes it possible to fully provide energy carriers to interested countries and regions.
"At the same time, the gas transportation infrastructure created by the Turkmen side in recent years provides Turkmenistan with ample opportunities to export its natural gas in large volumes to the west," the message says.
The meeting of the IPC was attended by the heads of the leading ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and a representative delegation of Turkey headed by Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz.
