President Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed that the name of the country's new city be put up for public discussion. On Thursday, the head of state visited the administrative center of the Akhal region, which is under construction in the Geoktepe district, and got acquainted with the state of affairs at this largest construction site in the country and the progress of work at its key facilities.
In the same place, the president held a meeting with members of the government of Turkmenistan and other leaders, discussing with them the current issues and tasks of tomorrow in organizing the life of the new city.

First, Deryageldi Orazov, Director of the Directorate for Construction Projects of the Ministry of Construction and Architecture, reported to the head of state on the progress of this large-scale socio-economic project. Then Deputy Prime Ministers Charymyrat Purchekov, Chary Gylydzhov, Muhammetguly Mukhammedov, Sapardurdy Toylyev, Myakhrijemal Mammedova, Esenmyrat Orazgeldiev, as well as Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications Muhammetgeldy Chakyev and Minister of Defense, Secretary of the State Security Council Begench Gundogdyev reported on their respective areas.
All urban development is planned as an optimally balanced complex of residential buildings, social infrastructure facilities, including kindergartens, schools, universities, medical, cultural and sports institutions, trade and service enterprises, as well as offices of various organizations and services, transport, communication and other engineering and technical structures.

Among other things, the city being built from scratch was originally conceived as a harmonious architectural ensemble, where functionality and innovative solutions are combined with beauty and environmental friendliness. The construction of all these facilities is carried out by private Turkmen companies that are members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of the country.
3G and 4G networks, GPON and IP-television technologies will operate in the city, "smart" systems for traffic, household services, utility bills, etc. will be developed. In this regard, the president, among other instructions to leaders, charged to create a center for training specialists in the field of digitalization in the new city.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the great importance for the country of the successful implementation of the construction of a new city. Not every state can afford projects of this magnitude. And the fact that Turkmenistan is confidently implementing this plan testifies to the growing economic power of the state, the growing potential of the professional personnel.

Now the first stage of this project is under completion and the second stage is beginning, which includes the improvement of territories and the settlement of people in new homes. In general, the new regional center will be able to accept about 12.5 thousand new settlers. All this requires a lot of organizational, coordination work and control.
To this end, the head of state announced several decisions - to create a State Committee for the construction of the administrative center of the Akhal region and the mayor's office of the new city. Serdar Berdimuhamedov also appointed the heads of these structures: the state committee is headed by Deryageldi Orazov, and the mayor's office is headed by Shamukhamet Durdylyev.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov also suggested Gulshat Mammedova, chairwoman of the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh, put forward the choice of a name for the new city for general discussion.
