Turkmenistan Presented Education Reforms at the World Forum in London
From May 17 to 21, a delegation of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan led by Deputy Minister Azat Atayev is taking part in the Education World Forum (EWF 2026) in London. The forum is considered one of the world’s leading platforms for discussing innovation and human capital development. This was reported on the official website of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.
During the forum, the head of the Turkmen delegation held an important meeting with the UK Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson, where the parties discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation.
At a high-level session, Turkmen delegates presented the country’s achievements in integrating climate initiatives into schools, including the development of the “Green School” pilot project jointly with UNICEF. In addition, the delegation explored large-scale digital transformation practices and IT workforce training during a specialized seminar organized by Apple.
Turkmenistan also showcased its key IT achievements, including the eMekdep platform and the Higher Education Development Strategy through 2052. As a result of negotiations with global leaders in educational technologies, several important agreements were reached:
• Classera and Matific: launch of pilot projects introducing artificial intelligence for personalized learning and AI-based mathematics tutors.
• Times Higher Education: selection of a pilot university from Turkmenistan for systematic advancement into the world’s most prestigious university rankings.
• Pearson and ETS (developer of TOEFL): establishment of certified centers in Turkmenistan for assessing digital skills and language proficiency.
At a meeting with British Council, the parties summarized the successful results of the Accelerated English Language Learning in Central Asia (AELLCA) project. The experience gained will help expand cooperation with British universities. In cooperation with the Project Management Institute, seminars are also planned on introducing modern risk management tools and project offices into Turkmenistan’s education system.
