A working meeting with a delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) was held at the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. The main topic of the talks was the integration of environmental “green” skills into the country’s higher and vocational education system within the framework of the regional CAREC program, as well as the digitalization of the educational process. This was reported on the official website of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

New eco-standards and workforce training

Participants in the meeting discussed the integration of environmental principles into the curricula of universities and colleges in Turkmenistan. This work is directly linked to the country’s commitments under the Paris Agreement.

Key areas of the joint projects include identifying professions in demand in the “green” economy with the participation of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, as well as the international certification of teachers at specialized educational institutions. Special attention was paid to the successful experience of the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov, which is already developing new courses on agricultural eco-technologies together with foreign partners.

Digitalization and new opportunities

During the meeting, Deputy Minister of Education Azat Atayev emphasized that these initiatives support the strategy of the President of Turkmenistan to create a regional climate technology center in Central Asia. He also demonstrated modern digital platforms that are already being successfully implemented in Turkmen educational institutions.

ADB representatives highly appreciated Turkmenistan’s achievements in digitalization and proposed expanding cooperation. Future plans include joint training of specialists for tourism, the knowledge economy, and high-tech industries. At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to launch new practical projects.
