CIS countries discuss issues of sport cooperation in Minsk
There is a discussion on the draft of Regulation on the basic institution of the CIS in the field of physical culture and sports, at the meeting of the group of experts in Minsk. Previously, this status was given to the Russian State University of Physical Education, Sports, Youth and Tourism. Now experts are discussing what the main functions and rights to be given to this institution, and how to organize its work and funding. The Russian institute of higher education is supposed to be in charge with exchange of information and experience on training sports personnel in the CIS, the training and professional development of teachers, coaches and managers in this field, as well as organizing of conferences, workshops, symposiums on improving the quality of education in the physical culture and sports. The development of physical culture and sports is a priority for Turkmenistan. In recent years, the special attention to the development of physical culture as well as health and sports is paid in the country. In September 2017, the first in the history of the country international high-level competitions – the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games – were successfully held in Ashgabat. This year, the World Weightlifting Championships will be held in Ashgabat. Moreover, in order to improve the development of sports and physical culture in the country, the Ministry of Sport and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan was established by decree of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
