Turkmenistan Will Represent Its Akhal-Teke Horses at the World Championships in Tashkent
During a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday, May 1, Deputy Prime Minister Tangryguly Atakhalliyev reported on preparations for Turkmen horse breeders' participation in prestigious international events. The central event of May will be the "Pearl of the East 2026" World Championships, which will be held in the capital of Uzbekistan.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the participation of our horses in international forums is a tribute to the motto of 2026, which glorifies the purposeful "winged" horses. The trip to Tashkent will be an important step in popularizing the national art of horse breeding.
The program of events in Tashkent (May 9–10) includes racing trials: competitions over distances from 1,000 to 2,400 meters, where the speed of the best representatives of the breed will be tested; a beauty and conformation contest, the "Pearl of the East" entry-and-show, designed to showcase the exemplary grace of the Akhal-Teke horse; and a conference, "The Akhal-Teke Horse: A Symbol of Friendship of Nations," aimed at strengthening cultural ties in the region.
The head of state instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to ensure a high level of organizational participation by domestic horse breeders and racehorses in the upcoming show. For Turkmenistan, this championship is more than just a competition, but an opportunity to once again confirm its status as the birthplace of these "heavenly" horses, which have become the Turkmen people's invaluable contribution to world culture.
