Turkmenistan and Malaysia Will Celebrate 30 Years of Oil and Gas Partnership
On Monday, April 27, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Ambassador of Malaysia Mohd Suhaimi Bin Ahmad Tajuddin. The talks confirmed the stable dynamics of relations.
One of the topics of conversation was the 30th anniversary of the Malaysian giant Petronas' operations in Turkmenistan. The parties emphasized that over three decades, the company has evolved from one of the first investors on the Caspian shelf to a strategic partner, whose experience in the oil and gas sector has become the foundation for many of the country's industry achievements.
The diplomats placed special emphasis on "humanitarian capital." Malaysia remains a priority destination for Turkmen students. Cooperation with the Petronas University of Technology and the participation of specialists in the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP) are transforming the partnership into an exchange of high technologies and modern management methods.
The final focus of the meeting was a discussion of the schedule of upcoming contacts. The discussion of these issues in the context of meetings at the highest state and government levels indicates that Ashgabat and Kuala Lumpur are preparing a new agenda that will likely expand the formats of interaction beyond the traditional fuel and energy sector.
