The meeting of the heads of ports of the five Caspian littoral states in Avaza, scheduled for October 13-14 will become an important step in the development of regional cooperation in the field of maritime transport. The heads of the administrations of the ports of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan will hold the 8th regular meeting on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea. They will consider the issues of activation of maritime traffic, cross-boundary tanker shipping, increasing the transit potential of the Caspian ports and the safety of navigation. The subject matter of the agenda of the Caspian transport cooperation today is the formation and integration of the most efficient logistics systems based on an extensive use of technological innovations. Today a new port of international importance is being under construction on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea. The progress of this large-scale project realization is under the patronage of President Berdymuhamedov, who personally inspects all the key stages in the creation of a multi-functional port facility of the new sea gates of the country. From an economic point of view, it will open up more profitable access to the Middle Eastern markets and countries of the Indian Ocean. This is another new "point of growth" of the transport and transit network of the Eurasian continent in geopolitical dimension.
