Saudi Arabia is constructing one of the most ambitious projects in the history of motorsport — the Qiddiya racing circuit. The project’s main highlight is a “sky” corner located at a height of 70 meters, comparable to a 20-story building.

The project, located 45 kilometers from Riyadh, is redefining the concept of sports architecture. The track is being designed by legendary designer Hermann Tilke and former Formula 1 driver Alex Wurz. Their main goal is to combine extreme speed with spectacular visual experience.

The key feature of the circuit is an elevated section supported by massive structures. At such a height, engineers must consider not only the enormous loads from high-speed cars but also strong wind currents that affect vehicle aerodynamics. The corner will be equipped with LED lighting, turning the track into a massive media object ideal for modern broadcasting.

The technical specifications are impressive:

• 21 corners and three DRS zones for overtaking.

• Maximum speeds of around 325 km/h.

• Instead of traditional grandstands, multi-level terraces and viewing platforms integrated into the landscape will be used.

Qiddiya will become a full-scale entertainment hub. Roller coaster tracks will be built near the circuit, and the surrounding area will feature theme parks and concert venues. For the construction industry, this project sets a new benchmark for how a sports facility can drive the development of an entire region.

It is expected that the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will move to the new location after 2027. This circuit will symbolize a new era where construction goes beyond functionality, creating unique spaces of the future.
