ORIENT | March 28. At a meeting of the Turkmen government on Friday, strengthening the resource base of the fuel and energy sector was a central topic. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Guvanch Agajanov presented a report on the modernization of the Turkmengeology State Corporation. This report focuses on the qualitative development of geological exploration and the transition from prospecting to high-precision digital modeling of deposits.

The report primarily focuses on the introduction of modern seismic exploration equipment. Translated from official language, this means the large-scale use of 3D and possibly 4D seismic technologies.

These technologies make it possible to identify hidden reserves at existing fields (including the unique Galkynysh field); accurately map sediments where colossal hydrocarbon reserves may be hidden; and reduce risks in drilling exploratory wells, optimizing public investment.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, approving the Deputy Prime Minister's proposals, emphasized the importance of "productive work to identify underground resources." The key to this productivity is the modernization of the State Corporation's equipment and facilities. The purchase of state-of-the-art seismic stations, deep-hole drilling rigs, and software for processing geophysical data is expected.

Efficient geological exploration is an insurance policy for Turkmenistan's energy independence. The country needs more than just reports; it needs a growth in reserves confirmed by international standards. This is crucial for signing long-term gas contracts and attracting foreign partners to new projects, especially on the Caspian shelf.
