In Turkmenistan, gasoline thrice cheaper than average world prices ... even after 50% hike


Even a 50% rise in gasoline prices did not affect the statistics, which indicates that in Turkmenistan this oil products is still the cheapest in the CIS. Since 1 February 2018, Turkmen refueling stations sell the most popular brand of motor gasoline “AI-95” at 1.5 manat ($ 0.42) per 1 litre. Tariffs for other types of fuel have also been revised. “AI-92” brand costs 1.35 manat ($ 0.38) per 1 litre, “AI-80” – 1.15 manat ($ 0.32), diesel fuel – 1.35 manat ($ 0.38). For comparison, the current average prices for gasoline in some CIS countries (in US $ per litre) are given below: Turkmenistan – 0.42 Kazakhstan – 0.55 Kyrgyzstan – 0.64 Belarus – 0.64 Azerbaijan – 0.73 Russia – 0.74 Tajikistan – 0.80 Uzbekistan –1.02 Ukraine – 1.09 The average world price for gasoline is around US $ 1.16.
