A delegation from Turkmenistan participated in the global forum "Tax and Development," which took place in Tokyo on March 2–3. The meeting, co-sponsored by the UN, IMF, and World Bank, provided a platform for developing new tax administration standards.

The Turkmen side was represented at the meeting in the Japanese capital by Babaniyaz Yalakov, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy.

The forum focused on improving tax policy as a foundation for economic growth. Participants in the "Tax Cooperation Platform" (a joint initiative of the World Bank, IMF, OECD, and the UN) discussed how modern technologies help create a transparent economic environment.

"Modernizing the tax system using digital tools is not just a technical issue, but a guarantee of long-term financial stability for states," it was noted during the discussions.

For Turkmenistan, participation in the Tokyo meeting marked another step in its integration into the global financial system. Drawing on international best practices, the country continues to implement mechanisms for effective information exchange and strengthening tax administration.

Experts emphasize that such cooperation formats allow developing countries to more quickly adapt to the challenges of the global economy, creating favorable conditions for investors.

Following the meeting in Tokyo, proposals were put forward to expand international cooperation and create more flexible tax models to accelerate economic growth.
