The 14th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan is taking place in Dushanbe on March 3-4. The key indicator of successful cooperation was the dynamics of mutual trade: by the end of 2025, trade between the countries increased by 17.1%, reaching $43.1 million.

The meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Ministers Tangryguly Atakhalliyev and Sulaimon Ziyozoda, demonstrated that the economic dialogue between Ashgabat and Dushanbe has reached a qualitatively new level.

Agenda 2026: From Agriculture to High Technology

The parties moved on to a detailed review of key sectors where they plan to expand their presence:

Transport and civil aviation: renewing and enhancing communication corridors.

Agriculture and water resources: joint approaches in agriculture, a strategic priority for both countries.

Industry and construction: expanding cooperation in the production of building materials and pharmaceuticals (medical industry).

The two-day meeting will culminate in the signing of a Protocol (scheduled for March 4), which will formalize the roadmap for trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation.
