US VIP fleet replaces classic look with colors chosen by Donald Trump
The US government has begun a large-scale update of the presidential aircraft fleet's appearance. The famous light blue livery from the John F. Kennedy era is being phased out, making way for a new color scheme proposed by Donald Trump.
The US Air Force has officially confirmed the design change for aircraft used by the nation's top leadership, including the primary "Air Force One." The new palette now includes dark blue, deep red, and gold. This decision revives an initiative Trump introduced during his first presidential term.
Previously, the Biden administration had canceled this project, citing technical difficulties, but the repainting process has now been officially launched. The procedure is being carried out in stages, during the routine maintenance of the aircraft.
The first to receive the updated look are the Boeing C-32 aircraft, known as "Air Force Two," which transport the Vice President and the First Lady. The first such planes have already been spotted at a facility in Texas.
Additionally, the newest Boeing 747-8i, a gift from Qatar, is currently undergoing modernization. It is expected to be ready for flights as the presidential flagship by the summer of 2026. In the future, two new-generation Boeing giants currently under construction will also receive the design proposed by Donald Trump.
The classic sky-blue design had been in use for over 60 years. It was created in 1962 at the request of Jacqueline Kennedy and became a global symbol of American diplomacy.
