The Introduction of 5G Technology Is Planned in Ashgabat and the Avaza National Touristic Zone
As part of the Action Plan for the implementation of the State Program for the Development of the Digital Economy of Turkmenistan for 2026–2028, large-scale projects are envisaged to modernize telecommunications infrastructure and introduce advanced communication technologies.
In particular, plans include the expansion of management and licensing systems of the mobile operator Altyn Asyr, as well as the introduction of fifth-generation (5G) technology in the city of Ashgabat and the Avaza National Touristic Zone. At the same time, it is planned to provide velayat and etrap centers and cities with 4G+ standard connectivity and to expand the coverage area of 4G networks.
Given the growing demand for internet services from the population and various sectors of the economy, where digital platforms and electronic services are being actively introduced, it is planned to increase the capacity of existing hardware and technical complexes of the internet infrastructure. In this regard, the installation of modern telecommunications equipment and the implementation of innovative solutions are envisaged.
