Frankfurt am Main | ORIENT. On January 27, a meeting was held at the Consulate of Turkmenistan in Frankfurt am Main that could provide new impetus to the country's private sector. Consul Murad Ozbekbayev discussed partnership prospects with Andreas Jahn, Chairman of the German-Turkmen Forum and Executive Director of the Federal Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (BVMW).

From Economy Days to New Contracts The negotiations were a logical continuation of the large-scale Turkmenistan Economy Days in Germany, held last fall. The parties have now moved on to discussing practical steps:

Direct contacts: The organization of mutual business missions is being considered. German entrepreneurs are ready to deploy to Turkmenistan, and our businessmen are ready to study the experience of Mittelstand (German medium-sized businesses) directly in Germany.

BVMW's scale: It's worth noting that the BVMW association represents the interests of over 900,000 companies. This represents a colossal resource of technologies and innovations that are of interest to the private sector of Turkmenistan.

Invitation to Ashgabat: A concrete step towards rapprochement will be the participation of German business circles in major events scheduled for March 2026 in Ashgabat: An exhibition and conference marking the 18th anniversary of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) and the International Investment Forum IFT 2026 ("Investing in the Future of Turkmenistan").

Integration into global value chains: As Andreas Jahn, Chairman of the German-Turkmen Forum, noted, German businesses see Turkmenistan as a stable partner with a growing private sector. The meeting confirmed that the pace of trade and economic rapprochement will only accelerate, transforming agreements from protocol documents into tangible production ties.
