Uzbekistan has significantly strengthened its energy independence. According to data from JSC Uzbekhydroenergo, the country’s hydropower potential has reached 2.5 GW, representing a 52 percent increase compared to 2017 levels. This growth was made possible by attracting more than one billion US dollars in investment, 43 percent of which came from foreign sources.

Using these funds, 85 facilities have been commissioned across the republic. These include 71 hydropower plants of various types, one wind power plant, and 13 fully modernized facilities. In total, 841 MW of new capacity has been added to the national energy system.

Such development of “green” energy directly addresses the issue of stable power supply. For residents and businesses, this means fewer grid disruptions and reliable electricity delivery even during peak demand periods. The expansion of domestic hydropower plants reduces dependence on gas and coal prices, ensuring environmentally friendly and sustainable economic growth.
